Alexa and Chris

On keeping the faith

A blog by

One thing you will always hear me say is I LOVE to work with old friends. To me, there’s just something about creating beautiful films and photos with a friend. Whether it’s someone who is a best friend of mine or someone I’m reconnecting with, the result is always amazing and I have the absolute best time.

So when Alexa reached out to me regarding her wedding film, I just knew it was going to be a great day. I was SO excited for Alexa and Chris’s wedding, not only because Alexa was an old friend from college, but because I knew they were also fellow Christ followers. They emphasized to me during the planning process that their faith in the Lord and keeping him at the center of their ceremony (and their marriage beyond the wedding day) was a huge priority for them.

For those new here, hi! I’m Logan! A Pittsburgh wedding videographer. My goal is to create a film that is unique to you as a couple and truly showcases who you are and what is important to you. So when I got the chance to work with a fellow Christian couple and capture not only their love for each other but also their love for Jesus, I was ecstatic! Chris and Alexa’s devotion to the Lord is so evident in their wedding film, so I asked them a few questions about their wedding day and now their marriage. Here’s what they had to say:

“Our foundation with the Lord started way back for both of us while growing up in Christian households. There is no doubt we have some great examples of what a faith-based marriage is all about, but we also learned the importance of what it means to develop our own relationships with the Lord, not just based on what our parents taught us. Our paths in our faith looked different as we grew up, but those paths ultimately lead us to each other. This was only possible through Jesus's love for us.

The most beautiful part of it all is, anyone is able to receive the love of Jesus at any given moment, which is what we wanted to emphasize in our wedding ceremony to our friends & family. His love is the firm foundation of a long-lasting marriage. We wanted to be a testimony to what the sacrament of a wedding ceremony is and how a marriage should put God at the center through each and every step of our lives here on earth.”

Why was it important to you to have a faith-based wedding ceremony?

“‘Keeping the faith’ is easier said than done, and we believe that's the beauty of the relationship we have with Jesus. Every day, we try to remind ourselves and together as a couple to be steadfast in prayer. With this in mind, we see a difference in the posture of our hearts when we go to God for every single thing we encounter day to day, whether that be a disagreement, a new endeavor, or just simply wanting to talk to the Father about our day and pouring out our hearts to Him. When you are constant in it, it seems like everything falls into place which sounds crazy simple, but it's so true! These are a few verses we tend to go back to whenever we need a reminder to put God first in our marriage…”

Now that the wedding is over, how do you keep that faith and your relationships with the Lord at the forefront of your marriage?

Philippians 4:6

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

Matthew 6:25-27

Working with Alexa, Chris, and their families was a true honor. Their love for each other was so clear, and because of their willingness to be fully immersed in every moment on their wedding day, their film now beautifully reflects that. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with people who aren’t afraid to share the good news of Jesus. Thank you for reading, and of course, don’t forget to check out their video below! Romance and fun vibes, combined with a mix of digital and super 8 film video, make for the perfect wedding film, featuring Mr. and Mrs. Anastas.
